Soccer Camp 2015 (with VIDEO!)
Soccer camps are nothing new.
They're nothing new to Faith Lutheran. This was Faith's 8th annual camp.
They're nothing new to me. I had a job participating in and running soccer camps for three summers.
But they never get old...
When you realize that over 140 kids stepped on our campus so we could teach them about soccer and about Jesus' victory over their sin and the death their sin has earned them, you realize that something special is happening. When kids learn to pass the ball with the side of their foot, or that they need to always have "CONTROL!!" when they dribble, or give the grass a haircut when they shoot, you realize that you make difference in a skill that they will use probably for decades. But when you hear over 140 kids and about 70 volunteers sing with you, "He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!" you realize that what you are doing will echo into eternity. Kids who maybe have never heard about Jesus heard that God can give them the victory in Jesus' resurrection. Families who maybe haven't heard that the forgiveness Jesus won is completely free got to hear from Pastor Evan Chartrand (check out his sermon: http://www.georgiafaith.com/node/1657) that their sins have been removed from them as far as the East is from the West. They learned that you don't have to do anything to earn it or get that forgiveness, but that it's already yours.
I would love to tell you all about what happened at Soccer Camp, but I really can't in a short blog post. You just need to experience it. If you didn't volunteer or participate this year, I encourage you to next year. Oh yeah, and you should watch this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2Nuy7qt1IM
