Registration for the 2012-2013 School Year
Faith Lutheran Preschool will be accepting registrations from new families to our program on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, beginning at 8:45. Please give us a call and schedule a tour so that you can be all ready to go. Spaces are limited, and we do fill quickly. Please don't miss out.
Can children still do memory work?
Should we have our children memorize important portions of the Bible? The answer seems to be an easy one: yes! But Christian congregations often struggle to get children to memorize key Bible passages or parts of the catechism. The modern educational system does not emphasize it. Should we begin to phase it out? Should we throw in the towel?
Absolutely not. Here is little Malachi Scharf, son of Jon and Janette Scharf. He wanted to show me that he knew all the books of the Bible. He's four.
The Preschool Learns About Helping Others
In November, the preschool is collecting cereal for a local food pantry. We are also collecting money for a Kroger gift card to help a family in need. You are welcome to make donations to either or both of these causes anytime this month. The cereal collection box is behind the director's desk and the money jar is on the director's desk. Thank you for helping us as we give the children a change to put their faith in action by helping those who need it.
We'd love to have you a part of our program.
We register for the new school year that starts in August on the first school day in February. Spaces fill really quickly so do not delay as we are a well-loved program. We'd love to have you a part of our program so even if the year has begun, give me a call. People move or have job changes, and we may have an opening for you. If I have an opening for the class you want, we'll schedule a tour. I'll walk you through what a typical school day looks like, and we'll spend a few minutes watching the class in action. I encourage you to bring your child with you when you tour.
Pajama Day a Huge Hit
Pajama day was wonderfully fun! The kids and staff enjoyed rolling out of bed and heading to school sporting their favorite jammies. The kids loved the silliness, and they loved that our staff is good humored enough to join in the fun. Mrs. Joan's footie pajamas were particularly spectacular. Some of our wonderful parents enjoyed postponing the effort of getting dressed and participated too! There is always extra laughter and playfulness on pajama day, and we are sad to see the day end. But we look forward to the next time when we can be silly and wear pajamas to school.
New FaithBuilders starting Jan 22
Join us for a new FaithBuilders Bible class starting at 11:45am on January 22, 2012.
We will meet in Room 4 at Faith Lutheran.
FaithBuilders is our basic Bible course which covers the four key concepts of the Bible: Sin, Grace, Faith, and Works. FaithBuilders is for people interested in becoming members of Faith, or for people just looking to build their faith through the study of the basic teachings of the Bible. Classes are each Sunday morning at 9:15, and there is a second teaching of the same topic on the subsequent Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.
